Teacher’s Day celebrations across schools in the district were marked by gaiety and fervour. Vice-Chancellor of Acharya Nagarjuna University, K. V Rao cut a cake kicking off celebrations on the University campus. Later speaking at a meeting held at H.H Deichmann auditorium, Dr. Rao exhorted the students to respect their teachers.
Dr. Rao also bemoaned that education system in the country was in the cusp of a revolutionary change and the old values were being challenged by the new ones. He called upon the students to accord reverence to their teachers.
At Vignan Globan Zen School in LIC Colony here, project director of TTD’s Annamayya programme, Medasni Mohan spoke highly of the contribution of former president Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, whose birth anniversary was being celebrated across the country as the Teacher’s Day.
Mr. Mohan said that Dr. Radhakrishnan was a role model for all teachers for he combined the values of humanism, compassion and a zest for seeking knowledge.
Chairman of Vignan Group, Lavu Rathaiah said that teaching was the noblest and the most satisfying of all professions.
There could be no better joy to see a student grow up in the ranks and achieve something great in life.
Only a teacher could experience the exhilarating feeling of seeing his wards grow up before his eyes. Vice chairman Lavu Krishnadevarayulu also spoke.
In Bhashyam School, director B. Ramakrishna felicitated teachers at a meeting held on the school premises at Chandramouli Nagar.
Teacher’s Day celebrations were held at Chalapathi College of Engineering, Lam. Chairman Y.V. Anjaneyulu and principal P. Suresh Babu complimented the teachers. It was a day when teachers were made to feel special as the students hosted the cultural shows themselves. There were moments of fun too when the teachers were made to play a game of musical chairs etc.

Kakaraparti Bhavanarayana College Secretary and Correspondent T. Seshaiah on Wednesday said a teacher played a pivotal role in society by warding off darkness of ignorance and spreading the light of knowledge.
Addressing a meeting organised on the college campus in connection with Teachers’ Day celebrations, Mr. Seshaiah said that a student might grow in stature in life but he continued to reflect the values inculcated in him by his teacher his entire life. One should never forget one’s teacher, he said.
Referring to the cut-throat competition in all spheres of life, he said that a teacher’s role assumed greater significance in this scenario.
College Vice-Principal U. Sambasiva Rao, governing body assistant secretary Ranjit Kumar, Vice-Principal V. Narayana Rao, and treasurer Damodar Rathi were present.
Meanwhile, the college Vice-Principal Mr. Narayana Rao has received the ‘Best Lecturer’ award.
He received the award at a function held in Ravindra Bharathi in Hyderabad from Deputy Chief Minister Raja Narasimha. Secondary Education Minister K. Parthasaradhy was also present.
