In keeping with the instructions given by the government, the Krishna District Deputy Education Officer, M. V. Krishna Reddy, on Saturday issued notices to private schools asking them to remove tags such as ‘Olympiad’, ‘Techno’ and ‘Talent’ attached to their school names.

He also led a team of staff members who removed flexi boards displayed by Sri Chaitanya, Narayana, Krishnaveni and K.K.R. Gowtham schools. Mr. Reddy said that the department had received clear instructions from the State government for removal of such tags attached to the names of several private schools.

Mr Reddy said that notices were issued to the managements of Chaitanya ‘Techno’ School, Narayana ‘Ólympiad’, Narayana ‘É-Techno’, K.K.R. Gowtham Ínternational’, Krishnaveni ‘Talent’School and Chigurupati ‘Talent’School asking them to remove the tags.

In the boards displaying names of schools with tags such as Techno, Olympiad, E-Techno, Concept, Talent, E-Shastra, Public and IIT must do away with them immediately.

Mr. Reddy said that as part of implementation of the Right to Education law, the department would take stringent measures to ensure closure of unrecognised schools across the district. He also cautioned parents against admitting their wards to schools that did not have government recognition.

He said the department had listed the names of the unrecognised schools which would be publicised for public information.

Vijayawada Rural Mandal Education Officer K. Ravi Kumar and other staff members were also present.
