Release two tmcft water from Tungabhadra dam: CPI(M)

CPI(M) functionaries demonstrated near the Kurnool Collectorate on Friday demanding release of two tmc ft of water from Tungabhadra dam to cater to the drinking water needs of Kurnool city.

Kurnool city having a population of 5.50 lakh has a demand for 71.76 million litres per day (MLD) but the water supplied was only 60 MLD owing to scanty rainfall, party city secretary Ghouse Desai and zonal secretary Rajasekhar said. Several colonies under the Kurnool Municipal Corporation were reeling under acute drinking water scarcity, they said and sought water release from Tungabhadra dam.
