The relay hunger strikes marked the agitation against the CWC decision to bifurcate the State. Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasthanam employees continued their hunger strike on third day on Tuesday. Temple executive office K. Prabhakara Srinivas and others expressed their solidarity to the temple staff on relay hunger strike. Temple employees JAC K. Balarama and others were present. Vijayawada (West) MLA Velampalli Srinivasa Rao, Mylavaram MLA and TDP district president Devineni Umamaheswara Rao and others visited the hunger camp to express their solidarity.
The VMC employees took part in the relay hunger strike being organised by AP NGOs Association near Panchayati raj office on Bandar Road. The employees danced to the tunes of drum beats near the dharna camp. The striking employees staged a novel protest by holding roses in their hands while some kept in ears as a symbolic representation that the government was hoodwinking the Seemandhra people.
VMC Examiner of Accounts M. V. Prasad said it was unfortunate that the government has decided to divide the Telugus.
The decision reminded British rule. Seemandhra people would not go back until their demanded was heeded to.
The onus lies on the people to fight until their constitutional rights were ensured, he said.
