Rate payers agitated over property tax increase

July 25, 2011 11:52 am | Updated 11:52 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

The Vijayawada Rate Payers' Association has stated that people were agitated over hike in property tax levied on non-residential buildings.

The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation was issuing notices with a hike between 130 to150 per cent.

The rate payers need not be agitated over the hike, as there was a provision for filing a revision petition within 15 days of receiving the notice.

Association secretary U. V. Narasaraju said that the tax payers should send their revision petitions through registered post.

Elected

The association has unanimously elected Vijayawada Municipal Corporation's former legal advisor M.V. Ramana as legal advisor, and Walkers International Governor M.R.S. Prakasa Rao as public relations officer.
