Rape of minor: youth sentenced to 10-year RI

The special court dealing with cases booked under Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act here on Thursday sentenced Boya Praveen Kumar (20) to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for raping a six–year–old girl at his house in Old Rajarajeswaripet in July 23 last year.

A fine of Rs. 50,000 was also imposed on him.

According to Pavan Kumar Reddy, Circle Inspector of Court Monitoring System (CMS) of Vijayawada city police, Praveen Kumar had lured the victim by offering her a chocolate while she was playing with her younger sister. He took her to his room nearby and committed the crime.
