The Krishna district branch of the Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP) took out a rally from the IMA Hall to promote awareness on the benefit of breastfeeding.
This is one of the several programmes the academy took as part of the Breastfeeding Week that began on August 1. Students of several Nursing Colleges, paediatricians and others participated in the rally which was flagged off at the IMA hall by the academy district secretary Majety Madhavi and former IMA National president G.Samaram. The theme of the academy “we are masters of our fate” was also promoted by the members.
The students and doctors went in a rally to the Sub-collector’s office holding placards and raising slogans about the important role mother’s milks played in the development of a baby.
The academy members conducted counselling sessions for nursing mothers at Government Maternity Hospital, Amma Hospital, Aravinda Hospital, Sreeram Hospital, Vennela Hospital and RVR Hospital during the week.
