: Rain may have brought some cheer to farmers across the State, but it has dampened the spirits of farmers in the capital city area, more particularly Nelapadu village. The long-awaited allotment of developed plots has been postponed until announcement of a fresh date.

The AP Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) made arrangements for allotment of plots through lottery system but postponed it. As many as 824 farmers of Nelapadu were eagerly waiting for the event to happen. They would get 1,127 residential plots and 769 commercial plots.

But, Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana on Monday said that the farmers requested the government to postpone the process due to rains. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was supposed to participate in the programme, he said.

The Chief Minister would lay the foundation stone for a seed access road, a six-lane road, on June 25. The government is planning to allot the plots on the same day, he said.

Trial run

Now, the CRDA is making arrangements to conduct a demo on lottery system at its Thullur office.

The demo would be conducted from June 21 to 24 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The authority is also planning to erect huge screens to display the lottery process on the actual day of allotment of plots.

The CRDA has been kick-starting all its plans from Nelapadu ever since the State government conceived the idea of pooling land from 29 villages.

The CRDA officials announced that they would conduct a trial run to demonstrate the lottery system on computer to the farmers.
