Rail commuters’ problems highlighted at DRUCC meet

Foot over-bridges, road over-bridges, extension of train services, and dial-a-coolie facility among railway users’ demands

There is a rising demand for provision of escalators and lifts at railway stations, foot over-bridges, road over-bridges, extension of train services, and dial-a-coolie facility among railway users. This was brought to the notice of railway authorities during the 120th Divisional Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (DRUCC) meeting here on Thursday.

Pradeep Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division, and N. Seetharam Prasad, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division and N.V. Satyanarayana, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager and secretary, DRUCC, along with other branch officers participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, the members wanted the DRM and senior officials to inspect different areas to ascertain the problems faced by commuters. They said this would help in having a better idea in executing works within the stipulated time frame, besides registering any inconveniences faced by commuters.

Welcoming the gathering, N.V. Satyanarayana, senior DCM said the Division was happy to convene the first DRUCC meet under the chairmanship of Mr. Pradeep Kumar. He urged the members to give their valuable suggestions and views to enable the administration perform better and ensure best facilities to passengers.

Amenities

Highlighting the Division’s performance, Mr. Pradeep Kumar briefed the members about the steps being taken to enhance passenger amenities and other related works in the Vijayawada Division, said a press release.
