Raghavulu terms Naidu’s ‘padayatra’ a flop show

“Sharmila’s padaytra also lacked vision and policy”

Even as the Telugu Desam cadres are jubilant over Chandrababu Naidu’s ‘vastunna meekosam’ padayatra, the Communist Party of India-Marxist has termed it as a flop show.

The padayatra has failed to enthuse people as it was aimless and devoid of a policy, said CPI(M) State secretary B.V. Raghavulu.

Speaking to The Hindu , the CPI(M) leader, mincing no words, said that neither the State nor people benefited with the miles and miles of padayatra.

The TDP leader could not win the hearts of people nor credibility. The Telugu Desam could not drive home the message it wanted to the public through the walkathon, he said.

Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s padayatra was also a political padayatra. But, it was against the government and it’s polices. But, the sole objective of Mr. Naidu’s padaytra appeared to be to target the opponent parties. It was more of wordy duel with the YSR CP. The people were showered with intangible promises and assurances, he said, adding, “For that matter, Sharmila’s padaytra also lacked vision and policy.”

As a principal opposition party, the TDP failed to mould public opinion though the people were up in arms against the Congress government.

Despite the fact that the State government was pursuing anti people policies day in and day out, the TDP has not responded in a befitting manner, he opined.

Power tariff hike

Take for instance, the power tariff hike, merchant power policy.

Neither the TDP nor YSR CP aired the views on merchant power policy which is the root cause of power problem in the State. There were statements in individual capacities but not party line, he pointed out.

When asked, Mr. Naidu was making a rub a dub regarding the third front. It seems he wanted to tell the people that he has “some friends” at the Centre. But, there were not concrete efforts in that direction, he added.
