Quota for children of police martyrs

October 21, 2014 01:05 am | Updated May 23, 2016 04:54 pm IST - GUNTUR:

The State government has allotted 0.5 per cent of seats in Medical courses to children of slain policemen and 2 per cent of seats in Engineering courses, SP P.H.D. Ramakrishna said here on Monday.

Urging the families of slain policemen to make use of this special quota, the SP said a GO was released in 2013 introducing quota to children of slain policemen. Speaking at a gathering of families of police martyrs at Umesh Chandra Conference Hall during the Police Commemoration Week celebrations, he said out of nine seats available under the special quota, only two seats were filled last year due to lack of awareness. When Mr. Subba Reddy, father of a slain policeman, complained that some unidentified persons had tried to trespass into their property at Gujjangundla, the SP asked Inspector Pattabhipuram to take immediate action.
