Construction of bathing ghats alongside the Krishna upstream Prakasam Barrage for Krishna Pushakaralu seems to be a hectic task for the officials concerned.

The Bhavani ghat near Swati Theatre junction, which serves as a major bathing ghat for the common public during the Pushkaralu is in a sorry state and needs to be cleaned up before taking up any construction work.

Collector A. Babu had visited the Bhavani ghat, Punnami Ghat and others couple of days ago and asked officials concerned to speed up works. But no progress has been achieved so far and no works were taken up on Sunday and Monday at the Bhavani ghat. The ghat is filled with garbage and debris.

Also, the road leading to the ghat has to be widened after removing encroachments. “The water level is low and it is the right time to expedite works and finish before the water level rises.

However, there seems no such pace in carrying out works,” said a local K. Sanjeeva Rao. The Bhavani ghat, which is close to the Punnami ghat, draws large number of public as it is close to the city.
