The exhibition was organised to celebrate selection of the city as one of the 60 model solar cities in the country. The three-day expo had about 20 companies from all over India displaying their solar-powered products.
MLA Vellampalli Srinivas said that many people referred to Vijayawada as Blazewada (Bezawada), so solar-powered gadgets were bound to work perfectly in the city that received a lot of sunshine.
“The only way to overcome power crisis is by switching to solar energy. All citizens should work hard to make our city a green city,” said Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnuvardhan.
