Every citizen should take a pledge to preserve the environment and promote green culture for the future generations, Mayor Koneru Sridhar said at the inaugural session of the Celebrity Art Camp here on Sunday.
The camp ‘Connecting with Nature’ was jointly organised by The Cultural Centre of Vijayawada & Amaravati and Green Brigade at the centre’s premises on which several prominent personalities representing various sections of the society took part and exhibited their artistic flair.
The art camp was organized on the eve of World Environment Day. APSRTC MD Malakondayya, Rain Shadow Area Development Department Principal Secretary Praveen Kumar, Finance Secretary Sunita, Efftronics Systems Managing Director Dasari Rama Krishna, Hotel Fortune Murali Park MDr M. Murali Krishna, KL University Vice-President Koneru Raja Harin, Officer to Special Duty (OSD) to Minister for Forest and Environment Vidya Sagar and senior artist Kalasagar were among those who participated in the camp. They produced works depicting nature and environment in their own style.
Dr. E. Sivanagi Reddy, CEO, CCVA welcomed the celebrities and briefed them about the aim of the camp. Mr. Sandeep Mandava, CEO, Malaxmi Property Ventures Pvt. Ltd., Mr. Bhaskar Chilkuri , Founder President, Green Brigade, Mr. Golla Narayana Rao , Secretary , Andhra Arts Academy also participated in the event.
Minister’s appeal

Law and Youth Welfare Minister K. Ravindra here on Sunday appealed to the Machilipatnam Municipal authorities to appoint special teams to explore the tourism potentiality of the port town.
Mr. Ravindra shared his ideas about development of the Machilipatnam town in an interaction with the officials and public during the Happy Sunday celebrations here. “There is a great need to appoint special teams to identify the places that have tourism potential in the town, apart from bringing a new lease of life to the parks”, opined Mr. Ravindra.
Mr. Ravindra has enthralled the children and school students by joining them in various sports including volleyball and tennis at the Koneru Centre. Hundreds of students turned up for the programme.
