Ground Water Department Deputy Director A.Varaprasada Rao said the committee decided that youth should also be made aware about the importance of conserving water with the slogan "Yuvatha, Jalam Bhavitha".
Various programmes will be taken up to promote awareness about water conservation among youth. The District Level Hydrological Data Users Group committee which met under the chairmanship of Additional Joint Collector N. Ramesh Kumar decided that the ‘jalambadi’ programme designed to inculcate water saving habit among children will be continued this year also.

Youth will be made aware about the importance of water conservation and they will be mobilised to join the WAY (Water Aware Youth), Mr. Rao said.
The committee also decided that children in all schools should be made to take the ‘jalambadi’ pledge on the First Monday of every month so that they were continuously reminded of the need and importance of water conservation.
The committee also released the best poster on water conservation created by schoolchildren. The Rural Water Supply Department along with the State Bank of India Bhaskararaopet Branch would print 170 copies of the prize-winning poster and it would put up in all government schools in the district, Mr. Rao said.
Mr. Rao informed the committee that the State Government had constituted a State-level committee for the re-estimation of ground water resources with members drawn from ten different departments. The broad terms of reference of the above committee was to estimate annual replenishable ground water resources (ARGWR) of the state in accordance with the ground water resources estimation methodology.
The committee would also estimate the status of utilisation of the ARGWR. Mr Rao said that the committee had been given one year to submit the report. Officials of all the departments concerned should work in unison to complete the task within the stipulated time.
