‘Procure subabul only from dumping yards'

Joint Collector Gaurav Uppal on Tuesday asked paper mill managements to procure subabul only from the dumping yards that were under the control of district marketing department. If any mill was found trading directly with the farmers with the help of the middlemen, strict actions will be taken against them, he warned.

The Joint Collector reviewed the status of subabul purchase with the representatives of paper mills and officials of the revenue and marketing departments.

“The instances of some mills procuring subabul directly from the middlemen have come to my notice. Strict action will be initiated against them if it is repeated. The minimum procurement price is Rs. 1,750 for a metric tonne,” he said. .

Sub-Collector K. Dharma Reddy, Marketing Joint Director Sudhakara Rao and representatives of paper mills and others were present.
