Probe ordered into sexual abuse of Bangladeshi girl

Collector Babu. A has ordered an inquiry into the alleged sexual harassment of a girl at a rescue home in the city.

A Bangladeshi national, Sona, who was rescued and provided shelter in Childline Home, a few days ago, alleged that the staff misbehaved with her. Mr. Babu who expressed concern over the incident called for an inquiry.

A Task Force Committee comprising City Police Commissioner A.B. Venkateswara Rao, Women Development and Child Welfare Department Project Director K. Krishna Kumari, Deputy Commissioner of Labour N. Suryanarayana, DEO K. Nageswara Rao, MEPMA PD V. Himabindu and District Child Protection Officer Ch. Vijay Kumar would probe into the allegations on April 22.

“The committee will meet the girl, record her statement and submit a report to the District Collector,” Women Development and Child Welfare P.D. Krishna Kumari told The Hindu on Monday.

Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Krishna District Chairman B. Nagesh Rao said that District Probation Officer, Krishnaveni of Juvenile Welfare Department, would probe into the sexual harassment case separately.

Meanwhile, the Childline Home, too, reportedly has ordered for an inquiry into the alleged sexual abuse of the inmates in the home.
