Top priority will be given to providing basic amenities like drinking water, roads, and power to Indiramma housing colonies and specific instructions have been given to officials. Minister for Housing Kanna Lakshminarayana has said that to ensure that all colonies are provided with the amenities by the year-end, officials have been asked to act fast.

Speaking at a review meeting with housing, RWS, and Electricity department officials here on Wednesday, the Minister said that housing was an important welfare activity of the State government. The objective of the government was to provide housing to all the poor and ensure that there were no huts in any village. The Andhra Pradesh government was constructing 13.8 lakh houses for the poor and six lakh houses have already been completed. He said 20 lakh applications were received for houses in ‘Rachchabanda' programmes all over the state, but only 14 lakh applicants had been found to be eligible, the Minister said.
