Badminton World Federation has nominated M. S. N. Prasad as Match Control for the Thomas and Uber Cup badminton team event to be held at Siri Fort Sports Complex, New Delhi, from May 18 to 25.
All the zonal qualifiers, totalling 32 teams, are participating in this mega event. This is the first time that India is hosting the world team championships.
Some of the participating countries are Indonesia, China, Malaysia, Japan, Denmark, Korea, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, India, Hong Kong, German, England, Russia, France, Nederland, Singapore, England, Canada, Australia and Nigeria.
ExperiencedMr. Prasad is having ten years experience as Match Control in various national and international tournaments. This is the first time BWF has nominated an Indian technical official for an event of this magnitude.
Andhra Pradesh Badminton Association secretary K.Ch. Punnaiah Choudary congratulated Mr. Prasad for his nomination to the world’s second prestigious badminton tournament after the Olympics.
Mr. Prasad completed his graduation in P. B. Siddhartha College at Vijayawada and completed MCA in ANR College at Gudivada. He is working as office secretary from last nine years with Andhra Pradesh Badminton Association.
Earlier, Mr. Prasad represented Acharya Nagarjuna University and participated in the all India university tournaments and many State-level tournaments. He has also officiated Commonwealth Games at Delhi, India Open at Hyderabad, Asian Badminton championship at Delhi, World Championships at Hyderabad and several India Open Super Series fixtures at New Delhi.
He also officiated the inaugural Indian Badminton League last year.
