The primary objective of the Praja Patham programme is to ensure that people belonging to the poor and weaker sections get the benefit of all the welfare programmes introduced by the Congress government, Minister for Minority Welfare, Primary Education and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Mohammed Sayyed Ahmadulla has said.
The Minister participating in the programme held at Arundelpet Urdu School here on Thursday said that the welfare programmes introduced by former Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy were being implemented by the Rosaiah Government with tremendous enthusiasm. He appealed to the public not to believe rumours that the welfare measures introduced by Dr. Reddy would be scrapped. If the people were facing any problem in getting the benefit from all important welfare programmes like Rural Drinking Water scheme, power supply, employment guarantee scheme and Arogyasri they should immediately bring it to the notice of the officials at the prajapatham, the Minister said.
As soon the survey of ration cards was completed the exercise to identify all those eligible for the various kinds of pensions would begin to ensure all were given the benefit, Mr. Ahmadulla said.
Krishna district joint collector Gaurav Uppal, Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnu, Mayor M.V.Ratnabindu, local corporator Afreen Sultana and others participated in the programme. Speaking later at a review meeting at the sub-collector's office the Minister said that the distribution of textbooks would be completed before May 15 in time for the re-opening of schools. He reviewed the disbursement of scholarships to minority students in Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam, East and West Godavari districts.
