The Department of Energy which embarked on providing uninterrupted power supply in the required areas of three districts for Krishna Pushkaralu is close to completing the task.

Ajay Jain, Principal Secretary of Energy, Infrastructure and Investment Department, said 95 per cent of the works had been completed as on Wednesday.

“The remaining works will be completed by August 8. The department is spending Rs. 117 crore in the three districts and along with new facilities like substations many existing equipment has been replaced with robust ones keeping in mind the heavy usage during the festival.”

At a press conference here on Wednesday, he said four 11KV substations, 175 high mast lights and 577 new distribution transformers had been arranged at required spots. “As there will be round-the-clock usage and high demand for power supply, we have replaced many existing equipment including 3,670 iron poles, 2,140 distribution boxes, 406 kilometres length of low tension wire besides providing fencing for 702 distribution transformers and others.”
