Power cut duration increased in city

The Southern Power Distribution Company has announced a revised schedule of power cuts with effect from Wednesday in Krishna district in view of acute power shortage.

Effectively, the power cut time will (officially) go up by half-an-hour in the morning and afternoon, the SPDCL officials said on Wednesday.

In the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation limits, there will be no power supply from 7 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. and from 12 noon to 2.30 p.m.

In the district headquarters Machilipatnam, power shutdown will be implemented from 6 a.m. to 7.30 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1.30 p.m., and 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

In other municipal towns other than Machilipatnam, power supply will be snapped from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 12 noon to 3 p.m.

In mandal headquarters, it will be from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 12 noon to 3 p.m.

For the industrial sector, all continuous process industries (except small scale) have to implement power holiday for 12 days per month with peak load restrictions from 6.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. throughout the month.

They must avail power supply only for lighting purpose not exceeding 10 per cent of the CMD during peak load hours. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are power holiday days in a week.

Small scale industries can avail power supply for five days in a week with peak load restrictions from 6.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. throughout the month.

Poultry units

Poultry units, rice mills, and cold storage units must restrict their load to 60 per cent of CMD throughout the month with peak load restrictions from 6.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. They must avail power supply only for lighting purpose not exceeding 10 per cent of the CMD during peak load hours.
