A native of Tenali in Guntur district, Rajesh Konduri, has been granted the Dr. D.S. Kothari Post-Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) by the University Grants Commission. A student, who had lost his father and had come up the hard way, he was among very few in the country to obtain a national scholarship for pursuing Ph.D. in a foreign university.
The post-doctorial fellowship will last up to three years for research in Pharmaceutical Sciences. The title of the thesis is “Design and Evaluation of Alginate-based Mucoadhesive Microcapsules of Pioglitazone for Oral Controlled Release”. This is furthering his research on advanced and effective drugs for diabetes.
The essence of Mr. Rajesh’s research will concentrate on controlled treatment for diabetes which has become a threatening menace all over the world. He will continue his research under the mentorship of Professor A. Prameela Rani of Acharya Nagarjuna University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
The maximum duration of PDF is up to three years, however the fellowship will be offered on a yearly basis with a special renewal/termination clause based on the opinion of the mentor. The fellowship will be paid on a monthly basis of Rs.28.000 with an annual increase of Rs.1,000 and the award will carry a contingency grant of Rs.1 lakh per annum.
Previously Mr. Rajesh had done research on anti-diabetic drug named Pioglitazone based on which he was awarded Graduate School Council Fellowship from University of Mississippi.
