Members of National Federation of Postal Employees and Federation of National Postal Organisation organised a one-day hunger strike, as part of the nation-wide protest, here opposite the Post Master General Office at Gandhinagar on Tuesday.

The hunger strike was taken up by the members in protest against the long pending demands such as asking postmen to do the data entry job, revision of postman norms and revision of incentives for speed post.

The leaders of the federations informed the media that on July 23 and 24, the postmen would deliver the letters donning half-trousers and post-women would deliver the letters in civil attire without wearing the uniform. The NFPE Divisional Secretary of Vijayawada S.B.F.J. Maristan said both federation will go on total strike ‘no pay no work’ mode, if their demands were not met by September 16.
