Portal opened seeking donations for Krishna Pushkarams

: Even as the government announced that there is no dearth of funds for organising Krishna Pushkarams 2016 and released about Rs. 250 crore recently, the district administration has opened a portal seeking donations for the river festival.

Krishna Pushkarams are scheduled from August 12 to 23, in Krishna, Guntur and Kurnool districts. The Endowments, Irrigation, Medical and Health, Police, Municipal Administration, Panchayat Raj, Roads and Buildings departments reportedly submitted budget proposals for about Rs. 4,000 crore for celebrating the festival.

Responding to the proposals, the state government said that necessary funds would be sanctioned for organising the 12-day event on a grand scale. Pushkaram works began in March and the they are in different stages in the three districts.

With just about one and a half month to go for the mega festival, Krishna district officials opened a portal titled ‘Donations for Krishna Pushkaram 2016’ inwww.krishna.nic.in, the official website of the district.
