July 29, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 07:33 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) Managing Director Rekha Rani on Thursday expressed her displeasure at the shabby upkeep of the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium and asked the District Sports Development Officer to spruce up the ambiance of the playfield.

While taking stock of things at the stadium, she gave several suggestions to the sports officials and asked them send their requirements to the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation and be in touch with the civic chief.

“Each sports arena should have enclosure made of iron mesh. That will provide safety to the players and the parents will be encouraged to send them to play,” said Ms. Rekha.

The SAAP chief also suggested to the DSDO to improve the greenery at the entrance of the stadium and asked the officials to bring the damaged basketball court to shape.

She also asked the officials to speed up construction of the office building which will house the employees of SAAP who will be shifting to Vijayawada next month.
