BC leader and Telangana’s L.B. Nagar TDP MLA R. Krishnaiah has made it clear that plans are afoot to float a political party soon in the two Telugu states largely representing the BC communities.

Addressing a meeting held by BC Welfare Society here, Mr. Krishnaiah said, “Soon in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana leaders of all BC castes will meet and discuss seriously over the new party for BCs. SCs and STs too will be associated.” The meeting was attended by leaders representing over 46 sub-castes of BCs.

Mr. Krishnaiah called upon the people of backward and Scheduled Castes to unite and fight upper caste rulers. “Power is always in the hands of upper caste rulers. We need to take hold of it. They did not allow us to educate but we fought for it. Only education will help our communities,” Mr. Krishnaiah said. He also also wished that BC Welfare Society leader P.V. Mahesh become an MLA and minister.

Mr. Mahesh said that BCs were ready to associate with Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan. He also warned AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of organising a BC meeting with lakhs of people in the city if promises are not fulfilled. He said the BCs were against the proposal to include Kapus in the BC list.

Earlier, BC leaders, including Mr. Mahesh, D. Vinay, A. Varaprasad, B. Venkatrao, D. Vijaya Lakshmi, K. Purnachandra Rao, and D. Shankar (CPI), unanimously passed a resolution of demands.

The demands included passing of a BC Bill in Parliament providing 50 per cent reservation in legislative houses, reservation to BCs during promotions, Act to prevent atrocities against BCs, creation of BC ministry in Central government, national BC commission, reservation for BC/ST/SCs in private sector and judges appointment.
