In a joint operation, the Central Crime Station (CCS) police and the One Town police on Sunday, arrested three persons including a maid S. Aruna, involved in a robbery at Bhavanipuram, in the city on October 3.
The police recovered gold jewellery, valued at about Rs.1 lakh, and an auto used for committing the crime. The fourth member of the gang, Yesubabu, is at large.
Disclosing this to newsmen here, Deputy Commissioner of Police M. Ravindranath Babu said the police arrested Yeddanapudi Ramalingaiah and Marampudi Ramu, residents of Bhavanipuram, along with Aruna. The maid joined for work in the house of Annavarapu Sujatha, six months ago. Aruna, who did chits business for some time suffered losses. She came in contact with auto driver, Ramalaingiah, who too was facing financial problems.
The duo allegedly planned to commit theft in Sujatha’s house to clear the debts. Aruna assured to assist Ramalingaiah, who roped in Yesubabu and Ramu. The trio entered with masks into Sujatha’s house, located on Gandhi Bomma Road at 7 p.m., when she was alone, said West Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police T. Hari Krishna.
They alleged attacked Sujatha and took away gold bangles, rings, nallapusalu and mangalasutralu, all valued at about Rs.3 lakh and Rs.3,000 cash. Later, Aruna, Ramalingaiah and Ramu shared the booty.
Police suspected the role of maid servant in the case, as she did not resist the thieves and they too did not attack her. The investigation officers, who tracked the mobile calls of Aruna, took her into custody, who confessed to have sketched the robbery, said the ACP.
