Almost 90 per cent of transfers of police officers across various districts in the State have been completed in accordance with the directive of the Election Commissioner, Director-General of Police B. Prasada Rao has said. The DGP was here on Sunday to attend a function as chief guest at Andhra Loyola College and interacted briefly with the media after the function. According to him, the transfers were done as per the EC’s order, keeping in mind the coming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.

Referring to a query on certain discrepancies that had cropped up in the transfers, he categorically pointed out that there were none and they were done as per the norms.

“Only a few areas such as Cyberabad and Ranga Reddy are still pending, and will be done shortly,” he said.

“The agitation has been going on since last four years and we will manage with whatever force we have at present,” he said.

On the murder of 23-year-old techie from Machilipatnam in Mumbai, Mr. Prasada Rao informed that the departments concerned had been in constant touch with their counterparts in Mumbai and were monitoring the case. He sounded positive that the case would be cracked shortly.
