Police to impose Sec.144 at SSC exam centres

Police will clamp Section.144 at the tenth class public examination centres under Commissionerate limits in the city. SSC exams are scheduled from March 22 to April 9, from 9.30 a.m. to 12 noon.

In all, 109 examination centres were allotted under Suryaraopet, One and Two Town, Satyanarayanapuram, Krishna Lanka, Machavaram, Penamaluru, Patamata, Kankipadu, Vuyyuru, Pamidimukkala, Unguturu (Town and Rural), Thotlavalluru, Gannavaram, Ibrahimpatnam and Nunna police station limits.

Public should not move in groups within 250 metres radius of the centres and should not carry weapons, firearms, sticks and stones. Public, students and parents are requested to help in the peaceful conduct of the examinations, said the police.

In Krishna district, 178 centres were allotted and the police will arrange tight security at the examination centres. One police constable and a home guard will be deputed at each centre, said Superintendent of Police J. Prabhakara Rao.

Nine flying squads were formed to prevent malpractice and police patrolling will be done, in addition to promulgation of Section.144 at the centres, said Mr. Rao.

On-line assessment

As many as 60, 487 students across the district will appear for the Class X examination beginning on Friday.

Students from the Government run Success schools will be writing the papers in English medium for the first time since the State Government introduced English Medium from Class 6 in the year 2009.

District Collector S. Suresh Kumar had introduced on-line assessment system in Government run schools - Sampoorna Vidya Darshini. Students could be assessed on the basis of performance in the internal test and teachers could be made accountable too. Mr. Suresh Kumar personally motivated the students, teachers and parents through recorded audio short speeches uploaded in the website gunturdeo.com.

In his short address, the Collector inspired the students to do well in the SSC examination and wished the parents and the teachers.

The district administration has made elaborate arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of the examination in 300 centres.

Over 3,000 invigilators have been deployed to man the centres. District Educational Officer Anjaneyulu said that 14 flying squads comprising officers from revenue, education and police departments were constituted.

The examination will commence at 9.30 a.m and continue till noon.
