City Police Commissioner N. Madhusudhan Reddy has directed the officers to keep a vigil on the activities of private security agencies and their employees.
Speaking at the crime review meeting on Wednesday, Mr. Reddy asked the police to scan the functioning of private security agencies located in the city. He instructed the Station House Officers to enlighten the house/apartment owners against leasing out houses to parties that may use the premises for the purpose of prostitution and other anti-social activities.
The Special Mobile Vehicle checked about 3,231 persons and identified 54 persons having criminal record. Stating that the increase in number of day-time robberies was worrying the residents in the past few days, the Commissioner asked the policemen to intensify patrolling and keep a tab on previous offenders.
Rowdy sheets opened
The city police opened rowdy sheets on three persons and suspect sheets on 62 persons in June, he said and instructed the police to keep a watch on the activities of the rowdy, suspect and history sheets.
Mr. Reddy reviewed on prevention of road accidents in the city. As part of welfare activities for policemen, the Commissioner directed to prepare the list of the police children who scored good marks in intermediate and tenth Standard this year. Later, he presented cash awards to 28 police officers who exhibited good performance in detecting various crimes and in controlling traffic.
