‘Police, prosecutors should work together’

August 30, 2015 12:00 am | Updated March 29, 2016 06:10 pm IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Anti-Corruption Bureau Court judge A. Giridhar on Saturday stressed the need for better coordination between prosecuting officers and police for extending justice to the needy.

Addressing a review meeting organised by the Prosecutions Department here, Mr. Giridhar said Assistant Public Prosecutors should update their knowledge.

“Prosecutors prosecute witnesses who give false evidence and try to mislead courts and investigating officers. APPs should fill the gap between investigation officers and judges to ensure justice. Prosecuting officers should also convince courts, explain legal issues and ensure that victims get compensation in accordance with law,” the judge said.

Krishna District Deputy Director of Prosecutions B. Ramakoteswara Rao appealed to APPs to collect scientific evidence which was legally admissible.

“The prosecuting officers should maintain rapport with police and see that culprits are booked, which will uphold the reputation of courts and police,” Mr. Rao said.
