The police recently unravelled the rape and murder mystery of a 39-year-old woman that occurred in 2009 in Chenchupeta in Peddaparupudi mandal. They arrested a vidya volunteer K. David Yesupadam and another person K. Krupa Rao, who allegedly committed the crime. The main accused in the case, David completed B.Ed and was working as teacher in Vijayawada. He allegedly strangled the woman to death. Police questioned several people in the sensational case and stumbled upon the two accused who confessed to the crime, said Krishna District Superintendent of Police J. Prabhakara Rao.
The victim was married twice and abandoned by her husbands due to family disputes. On March 27, 2009 her body was found in an abandoned house at Chenchupeta. The villagers, who found the body in a highly decomposed condition, informed the police.
The Police found that the mobile phone of the deceased was missing and saree was coiled around her neck. As the body was decayed, police did not get clues from the scene of offence, and the case was undetected for the last four years. David, who moved in Chenchupeta village for a few days after the incident, shifted to Vijayawada later.
During a crime review meeting the Superintendent of Police asked Pamarru Circle Inspector G. Srinivas Yadav to reopen the case. During re-investigation it was found that the victim had extramarital relationship with Krupa Rao. David, who observed their affair, insisted on the woman to fulfil his desire. On March 23, 2009David had an argument with her and Krupa Rao and in a fit of rage he strangled her to death with her saree. Later, David and Krupa Rao fled the scene, but David left his slippers at the the scene of offence. Police, who recovered the slippers recently, detected the case, said the CI.
In the post-mortem report, forensic doctors had then said the death was caused due to strangulation. The accused were booked under Sections. 302 (murder) and 376 (rape) of IPC, said Mr. Srinivas Yadav.
