Members of the Andhra Pradesh Commercial Taxes Non-Gazetted officers’ Association (APCTNGOs) have appealed to the government to regularise the services of visually impaired staff without any departmental tests.
The association submitted a memorandum, with eight demands, to Secondary Education Minister K. Parthasarathy, who attended the APCTNGOs 33rd State conference held here on Sunday.
The Commercial Tax officers said the government had asked the visually impaired staff to pass the departmental tests for regularisation or for promotion as per rules, and assured to conduct the tests in Braille script. But, even after five years, the prescribed syllabus for the test was not provided in Braille script.
“We request the government to give exemption for visually challenged staff from passing departmental tests for regularisation and promotions,” said the members. They also sought and amendment to the AP CT Subordinate Service Rules, 1990, orders providing reservations in promotions for disabled staff, and special pay-scales to Commercial Tax department staff.
New body elected
The APCTNGOs elected a new body with 29 office-bearers during the conference.
The newly elected were: K.R. Surya Narayana (president), P. Rajendra Babu (associate president), G. Satyanarayana (general secretary), K.V.N. Prasad (organising secretary), M.V. Sai Prasad (treasurer), six vice-presidents, six secretaries, and 12 executive committee members.
The new body assumed charge and the association leaders of Haryana, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and other States who attended the meeting greeted their counterparts.
Earlier, the All India Confederation of Commercial Taxes Association (AICCTA) organised a workshop on ‘Taxation – Present and Future Taxmen, Grievances and Aspirations’.
