Plea for extended business activity

August 20, 2011 02:50 pm | Updated 02:50 pm IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Andhra Chamber of Commerce and Industry has asked for special permission for the shops and establishments to open the premises from August 21 to 30 everyday up to 9.30 p.m. It has also sought permission for opening on two Sundays falling on August 21 and 28.

With the upcoming festivals -- Ramzan and Vinayaka chavithi -- on August 31 and September 1, such permission will facilitate the traders to extend their business activity to the customers during the festival days. “The shop owners have agreed to pay all the wages and allowances to the employees as per the rules and regulations of the A.P. Shops Establishments and Minimum Wages Act,” the Andhra Chamber of Commerce delegates said when they met the Collector and also discussed about Building License fee. They told the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation Special Officer that layout charges for construction of all kinds of buildings had been increased by more than 100 per cent. They said it puts extra burden on people and as per the details given by the builders association, their plea was for correction on increased rates of building fee.
