Municipal Commissioner G. Ravi Babu has urged the sanitary staff to utilise the facilities provided at the playschools being run in association with the voluntary organisations.

The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) organised a meeting on playschools with the sanitary staff here on Saturday.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Ravi Babu said that the Corporation was running the playschools with a view to provide kindergarten education, and baby care to the kids of public health workers. Many of the PH workers were neglecting the education of their children. It would affect the children's future, he opined.

The PH workers also find it difficult to leave their children back home while they were on duty. The children were deprived of education as none of them were available at home to take care of them when their parents were away at work.

At present, a playschool was being run at Shanti Nagar in association with Navjivan Balbhavan, he said, adding that the children in the age group of 3 to 6 years could be admitted into the playschools, he observed.

Chief Medical Officer of Health M. Satyanarayana Raju, AMOHs Sridevi and Z. Srinivasa Rao, Father Koshy, Care and Share representative Jayaraj, and others were present.
