The Poura Samaja Vedika will organise a programme in protest against the Central hovernment’s decision to divide the State. As part of the programme, a human chain will be formed around Indrakeeladri, the abode of goddess Kanaka Durga, here on Monday. Samaikyandhra JAC members will take part in the programme.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, vedika’s steering committee members and Samaikyandhra JAC leaders said that nearly 10,000 people would form a human chain to express their resentment against the proposed division of the State.
People were upset over the manner in which the Centre was poised to divide the State. The bifurcation, a subject associated with the Constitution, was discussed as a mere table item by the Union Cabinet, they said.
The government’s gesture gave rise to a suspicion whether Telugus were under slavery or foreign rule, they added.
The division process mirrored the inefficiency of the UPA government. Moral and political values, and laid-down procedures were thrown to the wind.
People would not tolerate the Congress in the days to come for its ‘divide and rule’ policy. They would teach the Congress and the UPA government a fitting lesson in the elections. Referring to Seemandhra Ministers, the vedika leaders said they haven’t responded to the 130-day agitation demanding that the government keep the State united.
The Ministers did not echo the sentiments of the people and the situation here to AICC president Sonia Gandhi and other leaders.
Vedika steering committee members Tumati Premanth, Malineni Narayana Prasad, and Potina Venkata Rama Rao, and Bharatiya Swabhiman Trust member Mahendra Singh Sahani spoke.
