Jana Sena party chief and film actor Pavan Kalyan on Thursday warned that he would go on indefinite fast if the Government tries to forcibly acquire land from the farmers for the proposed capital region.
Interacting with farmers in Undavalli and other villages in the capital region, he said that he had no problem if the farmers gave away their land voluntarily as it was meant for the capital. “But I will fight for you if I come to know that the land is being taken away forcibly ”.
While speaking against forcible land acquisition, he was not critical of the land pooling system through which the Government had managed to get over 30,000 acres. The popular film actor, advised the farmers to form committee and maintain calm until he announces his future plans.
Mr. Kalyan further assured farmers of speaking to the Chief Minister and other Ministers about the issues concerning land pooling in the capital region. He suggested to the Ministers not to mount pressure on farmers to give away their lands.
The Jana Sena leader, later shifted his focus to the Special Category Status to A.P. while interacting with farmers in Thullur. “The Members of Parliament should put pressure on the Centre to accord special status to A.P,” he added.
