Veerapaneni Johnson Chowdary, a religious preacher from Gannavaram in Krishna district, has gone missing in the United States. He had gone there last month.

Anxious family members approached the East Zone police after Mr. Chowdary, who was scheduled to return on July 13, failed to do so.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) B. Vijay Bhaskar said Mr. Chowdary was reportedly missing from Los Angeles and the police and the pastor’s family members were trying to contact his friends in Dallas, California and other places in the U.S. The Christian preacher made the last call to his family members a week days ago from Simi Valley in California, and his mobile phone was switched off later. “The Gannavaram police are trying to contact the US Consulate-General and the Los Angeles Airport Police,” said the ACP. Gannavaram CI Ali is investigating the case.
