Christians in the district observed Good Friday in prayerful solemnity and meditating the life, times and of crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

Across the Churches in the district, the faithful mediated on the last seven words uttered by Christ on the cross of Calvary at Golgotha. The seven words exemplified the teachings of Christ and principles of living including, forgiveness, and brotherliness, building family relationships, reconciliation, compassion, and faithfulness. The seven words have been written in the Four Gospels in the New Testament of The Holy Bible - Mathew, Mark, Luke and John - and have been meditated for years by speakers.

The prayer ended at 3 p.m. with the faithful breaking the fast by consuming home made sweeteners.

Congregations were organised in the afternoon at several churches in Guntur, Phirangipuram, Tenali, Bapatla and Narsaraopet till 3 p.m. The passion play was reenacted at Don Bosco Cathedral in Chandramouli Nagar at Guntur depicting the suffering of Jesus Christ as he was led to be crucified. The moving image of Christ laden with a heavy Cross as he being mocked and led to be crucified moved many onlookers.
