Divisional Railway Manager Pradeep Kumar during his Republic Day message highlighted the priority for passenger safety that needs to be provided by the Railways, here on Sunday. He also emphasised on the need for tightening security at stations to curb robberies and other such crimes.

Addressing railway officers and staff after unfurling the National Flag at Railway Stadium, Mr. Pradeep Kumar underlined the importance of punctuality, better services to passengers and infrastructure development. The South Central Railway, he said, had taken several measures and focussed on technical upgradation and system improvements to enhance safety. People were expecting not only more number of services but also an improvement in the quality.

The scarce resources available at the disposal of the Railways had to be utilised in an effective manner to meet people’s expectations. Quoting from the SCR General Manager’s Republic Day message, Mr. Pradeep Kumar said that the gross earnings for April-December 2013 was Rs.7,691 crore that was Rs.474 crore higher compared to the previous year.
