State Bank of India (SBI) Regional Manager Venkat Garikapati disbursed savings bank account passbooks to 300 students at Govindaraju Dharma Inam Trust Municipal Corporation High School here on Thursday.

The passbooks were handed over to the students as part of the bank’s event ‘Pehli Udaan Pehla Kadam’ organised on the school premises at Patamata. “We will also give ATM cards to enable students withdraw money easily,” said Mr. Venkat. These accounts were opened with zero balance.

He said plans have been chalked out to cover all the schools in the city under the scheme by the end of this month. He explained to students about the advantages of saving money which will help them in their future in all fronts.
