Partial closure of schools and colleges mooted

Members of Visalandhra Mahasabha are of the opinion that students, except those in elementary schools, should take part in the ongoing Samaikyandhra agitation more aggressively but not at the cost of their academic pursuits. At a meeting organised here on Tuesday, members from various JACs such as teachers, health, medical students and students, came up with a resolution that they would approach all schools and colleges and discuss with them a partial closure. “We will also approach the APNGOs and place our resolution. There is no point in closing schools and colleges for days together, as they will be losing academic year. We need their support, but at the same time they should also be allowed to go ahead with their studies and that is why we have come up with the idea of partial closure.

Instead of eight hours a day let the schools and colleges function for four hours,” said Visalandhra Mahasabha general secretary P. Ravi Teja. Visalandhra Mahasabha president Nalamotu Chakrvarthy said students need to be brought on one platform, so that the agitation can be more effective. He also said agitation needs to be carried forward in a more aggressive manner till December. “In December the bifurcation bill is likely to be placed in Parliament and we have to stall the moves of the Congress,” he said.
