April 07, 2014 12:05 am | Updated May 21, 2016 09:04 am IST - GUNTUR:

Collector S. Suresh Kumar has constituted a five-member committee to inquire into the alleged sexual assault on a 10th class girl by her school principal in Bapatla, a couple of days ago.

The committee comprising District Education Officer D. Anjaneyulu, District Forum for Child Rights convener Roshan Kumar and three other officials would meet the victim and inquire about her health condition and other details.

A. Srinivas Rao, principal of a private school, allegedly sexually assaulted the girl at his house a few days ago. The incident came to light on April 2, after the victim and her mother lodged a police complaint.

The committee would also suggest measures to prevent such incidents in future, said Mr. Suresh Kumar.

Meanwhile, the Collector asked the education officials to see that no school should function beyond 5 p.m. “No government, aided and private school should function after 7 p.m. If the management conduct classes after the stipulated time, woman teachers should be appointed for the purpose,” the Collector said.
