The Sivaramakrishnan Committee, appointed by the Union government to identify a suitable location for the new capital of Andhra Pradesh, would submit its report to the Centre on August 27.

This was stated here on Monday by Municipal Administration Minister, P. Narayana during a chat with reporters. The State government would take decision on the capital in consultation after the committee submitted its report.

He said the State-level advisory committee headed by him would soon visit Ahmedabad, New Raipur, Chandigarh and Bhubaneswar to study infrastructure and other issues. He said the State government would shift most of the offices of the heads of departments to temporary capital in Vijayawada in about three months. He expressed confidence that the entire administration would start functioning from the new capital in about three years.

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, had already announced that the government preferred the new capital to be located between Vijayawada and Guntur.
