Panchayat secretary in ACB net

An Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) team led by DSP Uma Maheswara Sarma caught K Mahendra, panchayat secretary of Cheekateegalapalem village in Vinukonda mandal, when he was receiving a bribe of Rs 8 lakh for issuing a death certificate.

The aggrieved person, A. Nagi Reddy has applied for a certificate of death of one of his family members but Mahendra allegedly refused to issue the same unless he is paid for that.

Mr. Reddy approached the ACB who caught Mahendra red-handed Monday night when he was being paid the amount he allegedly demanded.

The money was seized and Mahendra taken into custody.

The certificate was needed for settling some property matters among the members of Nagi Reddy's family and close relatives.
