The city police on Thursday seized a ‘panchaloha’ idol estimated to carry the market value of about Rs. 1 crore and arrested a five-member gang on the charge of tying to sell the idol.

The idol of lord Vishnu holding ‘Sudarshana Chakram’ of a height of one foot and a width of six inches was reportedly dug up from a place called Siddhavatam on Kadapa-Badwel route.

The officials estimated the value of the idol in the international market at about Rs. 1 crore.
