Dressed as little Krishna holding a potful of butter, goddess Padmavathi blessed the devotees from atop the ‘Muthyapu Pandiri Vahanam’ on the third day of the nine-day annual Kartheeka Brahmotsavams on Friday.
As ‘Venna muddha Krishna’ (Krishna with a morsel of butter), the goddess came around the temple in a colourful procession. The carrier, specially made as a canopy studded all over with pearls on velvet backdrop, enhanced the charm of the goddess and the procession. Replicating an interesting episode from Bhagavatham, the deity was shown as Krishna stealing butter from a pot hung from the ceiling. The array of pots and ladder, both made of silver, were placed on the carrier, that enhanced the real time effect. The devotees were thrilled on seeing the deity of the goddess dressed up in this unique avatar as ‘Little Krishna.’ In the evening, the goddess was dressed up as riding a ferocious ‘Simha Vahanam,’ a carrier resembling a lion.
