Youth converged in large numbers at the Mega Job Mela organised on the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium here on Wednesday at which 406 persons got job offers.

The initiative taken up by the State Government under Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu, saw about 9,000 unemployed youth registering themselves, but many of the handicapped found it difficult to reach the place and they were not provided any special counters, they alleged.

The district officials, however, made all possible arrangements to see that everyone got a chance to register.

District Collector Buddhaprakash M Jyothi said that about 5,000 people from rural areas and 4,000 from the urban pockets had converged on the stadium premises to seek a job. Several leading companies conducted interviews to select/short-list candidates.

While 2,400 persons were selected in the preliminary round, they were called for the final selections later.

The Army also set up a stall at the stadium and said that they would be conducting a job recruitment meal in June and youth could come forward to work in the defence services.

Many of the students showed interest and enquired about various details related to different jobs.
