The APNGOs are not fighting with the NGOs of Telangana, but with the Centre and those who gave letters recommending the division of the State, APNGOs JAC leader A. Vidya Sagar has said.
Addressing a press conference in his capacity as Krishna district Samaikyandhra JAC chairman here on Tuesday, Mr. Sagar said the Telangana leaders who had said that they wanted to part ways like brothers showed their true colours on Saturday when the government employees of the Seemandhra region congregated at the Lal Bahadur Stadium in Hyderabad.
Bandh was declared to make it difficult for the employees who went to the venue and stones were thrown on seven of the buses in which they went to Hyderabad. Despite the hostility, the APNGOs showed absolute discipline and tolerance, he observed.
“If this is not inflaming of hatred, what else it can be?” Mr. Sagar asked the TNGOs.
TRS leader K. Chandrasekhara Rao commented on the meeting though it was not a political meeting. He claimed that a meeting was held with six lakh NGOs attending it. While there were just 2.5 lakh Telangana NGOs, he asked how the TRS leader could claim that six lakh NGOs participated in the meeting. Mr. Sagar also condemned the TRS leader’s derogatory reference to drivers. He said no central government offices would be allowed to function during the 48-hour bandh to be imposed on Wednesday and Thursday. Autorickshaws and private tour operators would also not be allowed to ply as part of the bandh. Petrol bunks and cinema halls would also be closed, he said.
JAC convener Devineni Avinash and co-chairman Vellampalli Ramachandra Rao said all education and business institutions had come forward to shutdown voluntarily during the bandh. Gudivada-based joint convener M. Hanumantha Rao said bandh would be observed all over Krishna district.
JAC joint convener Annapurna Devi said that a ‘Mahila Garjana’ would be organised in the city on September 13. She said all women who were against division of the State should participate in the meeting and express their solidarity.
Welding workers’ rally
Welding shop owners and workers took out a rally from Gollapudi Centre. Bhavanipuram Welding Workshop Owners’ Association president M. Srinivasa Rao questioned how leaders who did not even belong to the State had the power to divide it.
The Krishna district Lorry Owners’ Association, in a statement, expressed solidarity to the 48-hour bandh and the ‘Mahila Garjana’.
